One is that it is a quick method of replacement, as the comprehensive nature of the engine package with pre-assembled components means that it is simply a case of removing the old engine and installing the new one. A genuine remanufactured engine exhibits excellent smooth running characteristics because all rotating component parts, such as the crankshaft and camshaft, are precisely balanced corresponding to the current technical status of new parts. By replacing wear and small parts with genuine parts such as belt pulleys, vibration dampers, critical pressurized lines, bearing shells and pistons, we ensure excellent reliability and durability for our remanufactured parts.

What are the causes and symptoms of engine damage?

There's nothing more annoying than a broken-down vehicle. Yet after faithfully covering thousands of kilometers on the road, even the best engine needs an overhaul. By that time, the vehicle's guarantee or goodwill period will usually already have expired. An engine overhaul as a form of repair generally takes several days or weeks, whereas a replacement engine can be shipped immediately. You can return your previous used engine later on in exchange for cash.

There is usually some advance warning of the need for a complete overhaul. The following may be signs of engine damage:

Reduction in engine power when the vehicle is carrying a payload or driving uphill
Occasional backfiring or misfiring when you start the engine
Unusual noises in the engine compartment
The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) in the cockpit lights up to indicate engine problems
High oil consumption or leaks
High fuel consumption, high coolant or oil consumption, usually because there is a leak in the engine or some of its components
The engine temperature is suddenly too high
Discolored exhaust gas, usually bluish if there is oil in the combustion chamber or white smoke if water has entered the exhaust system
Smoke develops in the engine, or the engine even catches fire

But what actually causes engine damage?

Filling up with the wrong fuel, such as diesel instead of gasoline or vice versa
Insufficient or incorrect oil and thus inadequate lubrication of the engine, which can lead to smoke, seizing or noises from the bearing shells, or even cracks and fractures in connecting rods or crankshaft damage
Defective piston rings, which may cause piston seizure. In the worst-case scenario, broken parts can create a hole or crack in the engine block
Insufficient cooling, leading to engine overheating
Excessive engine speeds
Water entering the engine (water ingestion damage)
A defective timing chain or torn toothed belt
Porous seals, such as the cylinder head gasket
Dirt in the lines, which may result in an inadequate supply of fuel or oil
Chip tuning may lead to engine damage as a result of engine overload or incorrect settings
Dirty oil can damage the turbocharger, in the worst case bringing metal shavings into the systems

What should you do if your engine is damaged?

First of all, a friendly tip: check the quality of your repair provider carefully. Sometimes, workshops can lure customers in with free towing services. Experience among customers on numerous Internet forums shows that in the case of costly damage in particular, it usually ends up being cheaper and less hassle to have repairs carried out by experts using high-quality genuine spare parts. It is often quicker and less expensive to have the engine removed and replaced entirely than to pay several times for multiple separate repairs.
