Diesel particulate filter

The use of an innovative particulate filter substantially reduces emissions in the Mercedes-Benz diesel models. Although conventional filter systems work with fuel additives, our in-house-developed remanufactured diesel particulate filter does not use them and hence it remains maintenance-free over high mileages.
The fuel additives used in conventional filter systems improve the burning off of soot particles in the filter; however, this can lead to the build-up of ash residues, which causes clogging of the filter duct after high mileage. This means that fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are no longer at optimum levels, thus also impairing the performance of the diesel engines.
