What are the product advantages of the Mercedes-Benz Genuine Remanufactured clutch kit?

A clutch kit for a motor vehicle is a complete clutch system with all its integral parts. It consists of the clutch release bearing, clutch pressure plate and clutch plate. All three components are produced according to strict Mercedes-Benz quality standards and are precisely adapted to the respective drivetrain. The dimensional accuracy, robustness and reliability of the integral parts of the kit allow for jerk-free driveaway characteristics, noise and vibration reduction as well as low wear. The Mercedes-Benz Genuine Remanufactured clutch kit includes all the technological improvements from the current series production and is remanufactured so that it is ready to install.

How does a clutch work?

The clutch is the connection between the engine and transmission. Its integral parts in interaction with each other ensure for reliable transfer of engine torque to the transmission. To facilitate a gear change and bring about vehicle standstill, the clutch interrupts the engine torque. By contrast, during driveaway, the clutch pressure plate presses the clutch plate with increasing force against the flywheel due to its spring force. As a result, the transmission input shaft speed is adapted to the clutch speed.

How to recognize a defective clutch

Similar to the brake, the clutch is one of the most highly stressed spare parts in the vehicle. Due to its function, it is exposed to high pressure and temperatures.

Due to this wear, defects can arise that can be recognized by the following features:

  • Clutch grinds (difference between engine output and displayed rpm)
  • Gears are difficult to engage
  • Gears "slip"
  • During gear engagement, loud noises occur in the transmission unit
  • Rough driveaway during engagement of clutch
